Renee's story
I’ve always been a creative. As a kid, I was constantly making something. Painting, drawing, putting together DIY projects. If there was a chance to create, I was in!
That came from both sides of my family. My dad has always been a passionate photographer, so I grew up around cameras, learning how to see things differently and noticing detail. My grandma was an artist, and her craft box was something I still remember clearly. It was full of everything. Pens, paper, tools, stickers.
After school, I went on to study a Bachelor of Creative Industries, majoring in Graphic Design. That’s where things started to shift from just enjoying creativity to actually understanding how to apply it.
My first real step into the industry was at Steens Manuka Honey, where I worked as a designer and marketing assistant. That role grew quickly. I wasn’t just designing, I was involved in marketing, social media, and photography. That’s where I started to understand how everything connects. It’s not just about making something look good. It’s about how a brand shows up across every touchpoint.

On the side, I started helping friends and family with their businesses. Branding, social media, bits and pieces. That’s when something clicked. I realised I didn’t just enjoy design. I loved helping people bring their ideas to life. Seeing something go from a rough idea to a full brand that actually represents them properly.
Today, through Quirk Studio, I focus on helping businesses build brands that actually stand out. Not just a logo, but a full identity that carries through their website, their social media, their content. Everything.
I’ve worked across a range of industries. From high-end architectural builders to bold bakeries, skincare brands, and e-commerce businesses. That variety keeps things interesting, but the goal is always the same. Take an idea and turn it into something clear, cohesive, and powerful.
